Awards Descriptions


General Awards:

  • District Award of Merit: See attached nomination form.
  • Scouter of the Year: Exemplifies the Scout Oath and Law in Scouting and in every-day life. Goes above and beyond a job description. Makes large positive, differences in the District or the Council.
  • Scout Family of the Year: Exemplifies the Scout Oath and Law in Scouting and in every day life. Usually a husband and wife team, both participating in Scouting through Unit, District, or Council positions. Might have children in a Scouting program as well. Usually stands out as a family who makes positive differences in Unit, District, or Council Scouting.
  • Spark Plug Award: Usually in the first or second year of a position, Unit, District, or Council. Has made positive differences in a short amount of time.


Hall of Fame Awards:

  • Cub Scouts: Exemplifies the Scout Oath and Law in Scouting and in every day life. Goes above and beyond a job description in any registered Cub Scouting position.
  • Boy Scouts: Exemplifies the Scout Oath and Law in Scouting and in every day life. Goes above and beyond a job description in any registered Boy Scouting position.
  • Varsity: Exemplifies the Scout Oath and Law in Scouting and in every day life. Goes above and beyond a job description in any registered Varsity position.
  • Venturing: Exemplifies the Scout Oath and Law in Scouting and in every day life. Goes above and beyond a job description in any registered Venturing position.
  • Unit Committee: Exemplifies the Scout Oath and Law in Scouting and in every day life. Goes above and beyond a job description in any registered Unit Committee position.
  • District Committee: Exemplifies the Scout Oath and Law in Scouting and in every day life. Goes above and beyond a job description in any registered District Committee position.
  • Commissioner: Exemplifies the Scout Oath and Law in Scouting and in every day life. Goes above and beyond a job description in any registered Commissioner role.
  • OA Chapter: Available for youth and adults who are actively registered in the San Tan District OA Chapter. The award recognizes youth and adults for Chapter participation, not Unit participation.
